Preparation
Why would God want John the Baptist to live in the desert before he began his public ministry to Israel? Could it be that God knew the ministry for which He had called him was going to be difficult, and God knew he needed that time in the desert to be ready for it? We often dismiss the importance of preparation. We do not seem to realize what it takes to be able to influence people and serve in a public ministry. We do not understand the temptations and pressures that come with being someone who is having a great impact for God. Throughout Scripture, we see that God prepared people for the work He had for them. He knew what their future held, and He knew what was needed to get them ready. Even the Apostle Paul took over two years to prepare before he began his public ministry. What are you doing to prepare yourself for what God might call you to do in your future? If you feel God is calling you to a ministry that will have you in front of people, use these days to prepare yourself for the future. Are you allowing God to mold you as you pursue your activities today for a responsibility He has for your future?
