Today’s Reading | Luke 22
Seeing Needs
What kinds of emotions or thoughts do you think went through the minds of both Jesus and the disciples during this final meal together? What went through their minds after Jesus informed them that one of the disciples sitting at the table would betray Him? If you had been there, what do you think you would be whispering to the guy sitting next to you? It is amazing to realize that what Luke recorded for us in this chapter took place right in the middle of their time together. According to verse 24, it was a dispute about who would be the greatest. Jesus must have felt tremendously disappointed. This was their last time together before His crucifixion. He had spent three years trying to teach them to be servants. Yet it seemed as though they didn’t get it. What an illustration this is to us of Christ’s humility and the pride of the disciples. How much similarity is there between the disciples and you? Are there people around you who are hurting? Is important information being given, and you only care about its impact on you? Are you the reason someone else is distracted? How can you be more aware of the needs all around you?
