Today’s Reading | Luke 23
What Do Others See?
As you read Luke’s account of the crucifixion, what did you notice about how Jesus responded? In the midst of all the pain He was experiencing, His concern was still with His weeping loved ones. In spite of what He was going through, He comforted them. As He hung between two criminals on the cross, He shared with them the reason He had come. One mocked; the other accepted His words. Jesus was always caring and always reaching out to people. Even in the midst of agony, Jesus still cared and everyone knew it. He always thought of someone else, even when His concern for himself would have appeared to be justified. And as the Centurion looked on and watched these events unfold, he could not help but conclude that Jesus was a righteous man. This chapter ought to cause us to respond in thanksgiving and worship as well as motivate us to follow Jesus Christ’s example of putting others before Himself. We must seek to impact our world with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. What has been the response of those who have been watching you respond to the difficult circumstances in your life?
