Today’s Reading | Luke 24
What different responses to Jesus Christ’s resurrection do you see in this chapter? Number them in your Bible. From Jesus’ response to people’s reactions, how do you think He felt about them? One response that He didn’t appreciate much was surprise. When He appeared to the disciples, at times they acted as if they were shocked to see Him. One could assume from their response that they couldn’t believe Jesus would rise from the dead. He had told them on many occasions that He would rise on the third day. On the road to Emmaus, He walked them through the Scriptures again to illustrate this point. Jesus’ rebuke was appropriate, “How foolish you are and how slow of heart to believe….” All they needed to do was listen and believe. Could He say that about you? Are you someone who reads what Jesus Christ says and in simple faith, believes it? Or do you find yourself saying too often, “I should have remembered….” It may be time to start believing what Christ said and stop doubting. If you need help, seek out someone who can help you grow in your faith. Your Chaplain is always an option for wisdom and guidance.
