...so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, | Phil 1:10

Today’s Reading | Philippians 1

Good, Better or Best?

If you had to make a choice between something that is good, better or best, which one would you choose? Of course most would say that they would want the best, but often they are willing to settle for better or good. We live in a world that seems to be very satisfied with just getting by or just being “good.” We are satisfied with “good” grades, a “good” game, or having a “good” job. Is that what God intended for Christians? NO! If God never intended us to settle for good, then how do we make sure we have “best?” We find the answer in Paul’s prayer. He didn’t want those in Philippi to settle for “good,” so he asked God to grant these two requests. The first is that their love would abound more and more in knowledge, one of learning new Biblical truth. Second, he asks for depth of insight, which is a deep understanding of something being right or wrong. We too will choose what is best if we are gaining more Biblical knowledge and as a result growing in our Spirit-led sense of what is right. Ask God to enable your love to abound in these two ways today when you pray. You will never be the same!
