For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. | Col 1:29

Today’s Reading | Colossians 1:24-2:5

His

Have you noticed as you read your Bible how important certain words are? Change one seemingly insignificant word and the whole meaning of a verse or passage changes. One of these words is in today’s reading. It could be easily overlooked or missed. If God had chosen a different word, the whole meaning and its significance would change. Look at the pronoun Paul uses in verse 29 of chapter one. He talks about how he is striving to admonish and teach them with all wisdom that he might present them in every way perfect to God. It sounds like hard, tiring work, doesn’t it? How can he do that? He tells us by the pronoun he uses. Circle in your Bible whose energy he was using. If we are going to accomplish what God wants for us, we must also learn to operate with HIS energy. Paul operated in God’s power, not in his own strength. You may be struggling because you are trying to accomplish things in your energy, not HIS. Allow God’s unlimited energy to strengthen you today. Stop trying to live the Christian life on your own. Take time today to surrender your will and let God have complete control.
