Today’s Reading | Matthew 15
Impact of a Memory
In what ways is the feeding of the 4,000 here in chapter 15 similar to the feeding of the 5,000 in chapter 14? Does the story in verses 29-39 sound familiar? In both cases you have a large group of people needing to be fed. In both cases, Jesus asks the disciples how they think they can feed the crowd. In both cases they respond the same way. “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?” How could the disciples forget that Christ fed the 5,000? Hello, remember the 5,000? But before we get too critical of the disciples, how often do we do the same thing? God has proven Himself faithful in your life. He has even done the miraculous for you. Yet when you face a situation similar to one you faced in the past, you panic. Just like the disciples, you forget what God has already done and that causes you doubt. What are you doubting right now that God has already proven He can accomplish? Ask God to give you a better memory that you will trust more and doubt less. In what way can you help yourself remember better?
