Today’s Reading | Matthew 26
Joy or Sorrow
Who are the people in this chapter who brought Jesus real joy by their actions? Place a + sign next to their names. Who are the people in this chapter who hurt Jesus by their actions? Put a – sign next to their names. Which person hurt Him the most? Was it Judas who was so selfish and greedy that he would sell out for money, steal from his friends and get angry when someone did something nice for Christ? Or how about Peter? He not only denied Christ, but when Christ was hurting and needed Peter to pray with Him, he couldn’t stay awake. Or maybe the other disciples who when Jesus was arrested forsook Him and fled, even though they had told Him they never would? Clearly this chapter is filled with examples of people who brought Jesus great joy. But there are also examples of those who brought Him great emotional pain which he endured for you and me. Looking back on this past week, how have you brought Him joy? What have you done to bring Him sorrow? What is something you can do today simply to bring Christ joy and show Him how much you love Him?
