Today’s Reading | Acts 4
How would the people who heard Peter deny Christ in the courtyard describe him? Would the word “courageous” come to mind? Notice in this chapter how differently Peter’s response was than when he denied Christ. He not only refused to deny knowing Him, but blamed the crowd for crucifying Him! He used the opportunity to clearly state that in Jesus Christ alone is salvation. He boldly spoke these words to the people he once feared the most. He was so different that those who saw and heard him were amazed at his courage (vs13). The difference? – The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was residing in him, strengthening and guiding him. His confidence and obvious growth was evidence of the fact that the Holy Spirit now lived within him. We also can see that same kind of change in our lives, to the point that others are amazed and take note that we have been with Christ. When we trusted Christ, the Holy Spirit came to dwell in us. He desires to change us just as He did Peter. He will replace our fear with boldness and confidence. He is the power of God that transforms us to accomplish what He desires. Is He at work in your life?
