Today’s Reading | Acts 14
Why were Paul and Barnabas so committed to sharing the message of Christ? They continued to face great opposition, yet in spite of the circumstances confronting them, they kept on sharing Christ. Of all the things they went through in this chapter, which do you think would be the most difficult for you to endure? Which ones might cause you to give up? Could it be the verbal abuse, physical abuse, or the personal gain and pride when the crowd tried to make them gods? But through it all, they stayed true to their mission, sharing Christ. God had called them to a task, and they were committed to it no matter what the cost might be. They had seen the gospel transform their lives personally and had seen countless other lives transformed. Regardless of the price, they wanted everyone to know what Christ had done. What does it take to make you stop sharing your faith with others? A little kidding? Some mocking? A “religious freak” reputation? The task of sharing what Jesus Christ has done is too important to be sidetracked by any discouragement. Allow this example to motivate you to persevere.
When was the last time you were mocked for your faith?
How did you respond? Why?
What can you change in order to help you respond like the example in today’s reading?
In light of this passage, what personal commitment can you make?
