Today’s Reading | Acts 17
Overcoming Opposition
Did Paul succeed in reaching people with the gospel? How did they respond? Amazingly, every town had people come to Christ for salvation as a result of Paul’s witness. How incredible it would have been to be with him when so many acknowledged Christ as Savior. This chapter also reveals what can happen when we speak out for God and He begins to move in the hearts of people. There were many who responded to the message and trusted Christ, but there was another group who opposed Paul and his message. It seemed as if every time God began to move, a group of Jews worked to counter what Paul was doing. His response was to faithfully preach the message and use his opportunities to the best of his ability. Although he must have felt discouraged at times, he knew he must faithfully continue his ministry. Any time God moves, we must expect opposition. When God begins to move in your unit or family or church, opposition will come. When it does, you need to stay focused on God and allow Him to comfort you (1 Peter 4:12). Do you need to change your perspective on opposition that may be facing you right now?
