Today’s Reading | Acts 24
Providing Opportunities
Do you think Paul ever got discouraged by the fact that he was once a great missionary but now found himself a prisoner with seemingly few opportunities to continue his preaching ministry? Why would God take a man who was doing a great work leading Gentiles to Christ and put him in prison? We find a reason for that unfolding in this chapter. Did you notice it? God wanted Paul to have opportunities to share the gospel with people with whom he would not otherwise have had a chance. He had to be in prison to accomplish God’s task for him. In this chapter he got a chance to share with Felix publicly and, according to verse 26, he shared privately with Felix and his wife on several occasions. The Scriptures tell us that Felix sent for Paul “regularly”. How exciting it must have been for Paul to see the plan of God unfold in his life! What opportunities has God brought into your life recently? Could He want you to share your faith with doctors and nurses through an illness? Could He want you to share with athletes on your team? Could He be organizing the events of your life to provide you opportunities to witness?
