Today’s Reading | Revelation 1
What Must Take Place
Today you begin a journey that might be brand new for you, but one that you can be excited about. You begin your journey through the book of Revelation. It is a book that everyone seems to be interested in, but a book which few have read through completely. It is important to keep in mind statements that John made to begin this book. The first is that this book is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to John. It is not John’s opinion or his own personal perceptions about the future. What you will be reading came directly to John from God, and he simply wrote down what he saw (vs11). Second, it is important to know the reason God gave John this book. God wanted us to be able to know what will imminently take place (vs1). This book is our preview of what is coming in the future. Third, it comes with a promise from God. John tells us that we will be blessed if we read it, hear it, and take to heart what it says. Although you may not catch everything your first time through, you will learn much that will excite you and be a challenge to you. Be faithful to your reading. Also, be faithful to apply to your life what you have read.
