Characteristics of a Worker
What two things did Paul want to be said of Timothy as a worker? Circle them in your Bible. How can we be sure these two things will be said of us? The first characteristic Paul wanted Timothy to be known for was a worker who did not need to be ashamed. Paul wanted Timothy to live a pure life so that he could hold his head high wherever he went. In order for Timothy to not be ashamed, he would need to make purity a priority. Are you a worker who is not ashamed? Is your life so clean that you are not ashamed in any place or with anyone? The second characteristic Paul wanted Timothy to be known for was as a worker who correctly handled the Word of truth. In order for this to be true, he had to read the Word, study it to discover what it is teaching, and memorize it to be able to use it at any time. Knowing God’s Word has to be his priority. Are you a worker who can correctly handle the Word of truth? Do you spend time learning how to use God’s Word? In order for you to be known for these characteristics, what changes do you have to make? Are these a priority in your life, or are you satisfied with the way things are?
