Today’s Reading | John 6:1-24
Andrew’s Ministry
Which specific disciples are mentioned by name in this passage? It is fascinating to look closely at how Jesus talks to the different disciples in this chapter and what that may tell us about their personalities. Christ asked Philip where they could buy bread for the people; He did not ask James or Matthew. Think about Andrew. He was the disciple who brought people to Christ. In today’s reading, we see that he was the one who brought the little boy with the five loaves and two fish to Jesus. Although that was not a lot of food, he must have thought Jesus could do something with it. He was not one of the obvious leaders in the group. He did not write a book of the Bible. He did not deliver any powerful messages in Scripture. He just quietly brought people to Christ – from his brother Peter – to a little boy with a small lunch. What an example to us! How often do you bring people to Christ? Maybe you are not one of the “up front” leaders in your youth group or church, but you can bring people to meet Christ. Train your mind to think like Andrew, and see what God will do with your life if you allow Him to use you.
