A Son Forever
Have you ever wondered if you are really saved? Have you ever believed you were saved but then wondered if you have done or could do something to lose your salvation? If you answered yes to either of these two questions, you will find a small but powerful phrase that should reassure you of the certainty of God’s promise. Did you see it when you read verse 35? The Bible teaches in many places that our relationship to God is one of a Father and His “sons.” If you have been saved, you are a son of God. According to verse 35, a slave has no permanent place in a family. A son, however, belongs to the family forever! Nothing can ever change the fact that a son is a son and a member of the family. When I became a child of God, I became a son and a member of God’s family forever. Why? According to verse 36, when we are set free by the Son, we are free indeed. So if I have been truly saved, nothing can cause me to lose my salvation or remove my name from the family. If you have truly been saved, you are a child of God, you are a son, and sons are forever!
