Today’s Reading | John 10
In today’s reading, Jesus used a metaphor of a shepherd and his sheep to demonstrate how much He loved them. How many different illustrations does He use? Put a star next to the different ways Jesus shows He loves you. Of all the different examples in this chapter, which ones mean the most to you. Maybe it is knowing that, just like a shepherd calls his own sheep by name, Jesus Christ knows your name. You are not just a number, but “somebody.” He even knows how many hairs you have on your head. It may be that He always walks ahead so that the path you travel is one that He knows is just right for where you are in life. Your favorite example may be that Jesus offers life – life to the fullest rather than the death and destruction offered by the thief. Maybe it is knowing that, unlike some in your life, Jesus is not a hired hand and will never leave you, regardless of the cost to Him. It has already cost Him His life, and our shepherd is ready and willing to give us anything we need. Regardless of the example you’ve chosen, clearly you are deeply loved by God. Underline the verses that mean the most to you, and think about them today.
