Today’s Reading | Hebrews 4:1-13
One of a Kind
What words would you use to describe the Bible? Write down what you came up with in the margin of your On Track. What words did you use? Did you choose the same words the Holy Spirit used in this passage of Scripture? – Living and active? Why did He choose these two specific words? He wanted us to understand that the Bible is unlike any other book. It is not stagnant, just words on a page. It is alive and can penetrate even to our souls. God’s Word is what judges our hearts and reveals to us areas that need work. God’s Word is what judges our thoughts and attitudes to make sure they are in line with what God desires. Everything is laid bare before God and His Word when we read it. We must be diligent to read and study this Book so it can do its work in our hearts. It will change our lives as we read it. How much time do you spend in God’s Word each day? Do you make the effort every day? Are you spending the kind of time that allows it to do its work in your heart? If we neglect our time, we will lack the ability to examine our lives and guidance in our decision making. Neglecting Scripture is dangerous.
