Today’s Reading | Hebrews 5:11-6:20
Being a Baby
Have you ever tried to explain something to someone who should have been able to understand what you were saying, but he did not get it? He didn’t get it even though the expectation was that he should have had information which would enable him to understand. In this passage, the author of Hebrews faces this same challenge. He expresses in verse eleven, a desire to share more fully, but slowness of learning prohibits him from doing so. Why? They had not been growing in their walks with God and were still babies. They just could not understand. It was not because it was difficult or complicated, as some might say, but because they had failed to grow in their knowledge of God’s Word. By this point they should have been teachers, but were still spiritual babies. Where are you in your walk with God? Does your pastor have to talk simply to you because you have not grown in your faith and in knowledge? How much have you grown spiritually since you trusted Christ? If you are still a baby, and can’t understand God’s truths, what do you need to do to in order to grow as God desires? Who can help you?
