Today’s Reading | Hebrews 11:1-20
Evidence of Faith
How could Abraham do what he did in today’s reading? How could he leave his home, family and career with an uncertain destination and future? Because he had faith! He was sure that God would reward those who seek Him. He was certain that God existed. Therefore, Abraham knew he could trust God in what He was asking him to do. Today it seems that we Christians want to know how everything is going to turn out before we step out for God. We may be willing to serve God, but we want to make sure we have something to fall back on in case it does not work out like we hope it will. We will take a stand for Christ if we know what the outcome will be. We don’t want to get behind on work due to church activities for fear it may hurt our standing to gain rank. We are in desperate need of people today who have a totally committed faith – those who are sure and certain that God is real, and He will reward them for serving Him. This world needs to see those who will move out for Him without concern or fear. Are you a person with that kind of faith? What is keeping you from being a person of faith like those in this chapter?
